Two Festivals

Thank you, God, that folks in my county can afford to fly to Italy on vacation and be seduced by expensively gorgeous clay pots that they bring home to plant, only to discover that horticultural pursuits bore them.  Then I walk up their driveway and get to buy these pots for a buck, always astonished at my good fortune.

"Oh, these old things?" the yard sale boss will exclaim, "How about one dollar each?"

And then, today at this same place, I scored a sofa that they were giving away for free.  Oh my.  It's gorgeous and not the ugly plaid I now have in the living room.  I suppose if one can afford the high mortgage payment at these lovely brick homes, then one can afford to toss aside expensive items?

It's a Grandbaby Day for me certainly.  Marissa happily scampered to yard sales with us, and we're now heading off to a church festival where I used to be a member.  Ray and Hazel are coming with us, CJ and Mae are meeting us there as Chuck's parents still attend that church as do many of my friends.
Tonight I'll take 'em all to the Halloween Fire House Event, hoping my BFF will be there with her darling grandchildren so we can eat hot boiled peanuts and yap to each other.  Because that's what we do each year, two predictable old ladies, right?  She's younger, she's liable to take exception to my remark.  Hey, she's still a grandma.

In between two festivals I gotta run up the highway to the other high school for Sabrina's competition cheerleading event.  I'm just glad there are no soccer games today.  Tomorrow is our own church's annual fall festival so I'm gonna have me some very happy campers here.

Last weekend I got two ceramic pots and a crazy monkey planter...ten bucks for all three. More than I usually spend, but one pot had a SALE price tag of $79.99 and the other a SALE tag of $59.99....plus I got a cool monkey! I honestly don't know how people can afford to spend like they do. But hey, I'm glad I get to benefit!

I don't get it either, especially when original sticker prices are still on the merchandise. Or when I google it and fall slap over in shock. But, like you, I'm then grateful for our opportunities to pay pennies on the dollar and get happy with the results.
