I've raised all these non-stop, super-active children without ever owning a thermometer, I can touch a forehead and tell a fever within a degree. I know my children.
I also have the dubious distinction of never using measuring cups nor spoons.
Close enough is close enough.
There's no teflon in my kitchen either. That stuff'll kill ya.

But how did you check you were right, if you had no thermometer?
That's a darn good question. Because when I felt they were in the 101-102 range and 24 hours had passed, then I'd take them to the doctor to be checked. I really believe that a moderate fever is just nature's way of burning out the gunk in one's system, but a higher fever that won't leave, needs to be checked.
